Aside from the coaching that you receive at your club there are also other ways for you to learn how to improve your cricketing skills. All the English county clubs run coaching and development courses at various times of the year; mostly during school holidays and at weekends. Simply click the links below to the websites that will provide you with information concerning coaching at the First Class Counties, Minor Counties, in addition to details from a few other sources.
The list is not as extensive as we would like. So we continue to research and will post more details from other clubs, etc., as soon as we have found or been given it!
We hope the information within this section of our site is of use to you. |

And here's is a small selection of recommended material that will also help you to improve your skills.
We aim to add more once we have reviewed each item, as we would like this section to become a meaningful resource of all that is available to help cricketing youngsters. That said, there's not a lot around at the moment that we would call 'suitable'. Much of the coaching material available currently, seems a little dated! Although offering some good coaching help, we would prefer to see a few modern day players/coaches impart their knowledge. Thus, we will do our best to ensure that our listings are relevant to youth coaching and relatively, up-to-date! |

BOOKS: There is a series of kids’ novels based on cricket by Bob Cattell. They are an excellent introduction to cricket as each title nicely balances a good story line with reminders about technique, rules and jargon about the game. I used to get my son to read the stories to me - and he never resisted! (Click here for a list.)
As you will see the series began in 1995 and concluded in 2001, (8 in total.) So, getting hold of them can be a tad difficult. That said, if you go to Amazon they have a ‘bulk’ set of 12(?) for sale. I think the other four must be Bob’s books on football, (another good read my lad tells me.) Alternatively, when I wanted a couple of individual titles a while back I used ‘Aphrohead Books’, who sell each title for around £2 via the Amazon site. If you use Aphrohead's search facility you should be OK. If you have any problems sourcing the books let us know and we'll try to help. |
CRICKET COACHING MATS.......brand new equipment designed to give youngsters the time and opportunity to improve their batting techniques on a perfect batting surface. View CRICKET COACHING MATS intro & flyer here. To contact CRICKET COACHING MATS visit: 'Bulletin Board'.
EDITOR'S NOTE: I recommend 'Cricket Coaching Mats', a proven method of skills enhancement. Youngsters will not be disappointed......nor will their parents! |
